🌴 Mauritius – North Coast Drive & A Night at La Maison d’ÉtĂ©

We left Trou aux Biches after a quick dip in the pool and took the coast road north. This time we skipped Grand Baie completely and went through Goodlands, which turned out to be far more interesting than expected— rows of colourful sari shops, jewellery stores, roadside stalls, and several bright Hindu temples between the buildings.

Along the way we stopped at a few of the small, white-sand beaches scattered along the north coast. The water here is unbelievably turquoise, especially on a clear day, and each bay had its own look despite being only minutes apart.

Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice de Cap Malheureux

We made a quick stop at Notre Dame Auxiliatrice de Cap Malheureux — the famous red-roofed church that looks almost unreal against the blue sky and sea.

🏡 Arrival at La Maison d’ÉtĂ©

A cute seat by the sea at the hotel

We continued on to La Maison d’Été, checked in, and went straight to the pool. The hotel has a calm, low-key atmosphere and the beach is perfect for a quiet afternoon swim. The decor is very nice and the service friendly, if a little disorganised.

Lunch was at their beach restaurant, followed by another sea swim and a bit of downtime.

🌙 Dinner, Fireworks & Starlink

We stayed in for dinner at the hotel. After dinner we saw fireworks — a party somewhere nearby had started celebrating. Later the sky cleared and the stars were extremely bright, with Starlink passing overhead in a perfect line. A very modern contrast against one of the clearest night skies we’ve seen here.
