🏝️Hello Mauritius

We arrived last night and kicked off our trip with a quiet stay near the airport, a plate of delicious prawn curry, and a few tropical rain showers to make it all feel real.

After a long day of travel, we finally touched down in Mauritius — tired, a little dazed, but so happy to be here. The warm, humid air hit us the moment we stepped off the plane, instantly reminding us that we were far from home and somewhere tropical.

We’re spending our first couple of nights in a simple bed and breakfast near the airport, Le Clos des Bains Mauritius in Blue Bay. It’s clean, quiet, (apart from the planes flying over) and run by kind locals who greeted us with big smiles and easy hospitality. It’s the perfect place to catch our breath before heading out to explore more of the island.

Dinner was just what we needed. We grabbed a taxi to a nearby restaurant, The meal — a rich prawn curry with saffron rice — was full of flavor and exactly what we’d hoped for after a long day of travel.

Back at the B&B, we unpacked the basics, and finally let the jet lag take over.

It wasn’t the most glamorous start to an island holiday, but it was real — warm people, great food, and that unmistakable feeling of being somewhere new. Tomorrow we’ll start exploring properly, but for now, it just feels good to have arrived.
